Thundering hooves pounding the hard, sun-baked earth, along with screaming, high-pitched neighs. The sound moved my body to the window. "What’s going on!?"
Short bursts of galloping with a stop, spin, twist and a buck. Gallop back down the fence-line. The neighbours horse is calm and standing quietly, steadily watching her mate going crazy. More thundering hooves; this time down to the house gate at a flat-out gallop. "Will she stop in time? Yes!" The horse and gate are still in one piece. "Whew! That was close. What’s up with you Chevy?"
I was observing this behaviour through the kitchen window. My horse, now only being five-metres away at the gate, was acting totally bizarre.
Within seconds I was out the back door. Too late! She was gone; a flat-out mad gallop back to the far fence-line where the neighbours horse is quietly observing this odd behaviour. Unlatching the gate I walk through into the paddock. The distinctive, "screech" of the gate-hinge catches Chevy’s attention. She turns, screams a stressful neigh at me, spins around and gallops full-pelt towards me and the gate. "Is she going to stop?" Side-swiping without touching me, in a flurry of dust and hooves, she skids to a halt. With a thud and a rattle her chest makes slight contact with the gate. How she timed that only a horse knows. I felt for sure that the gate and I would be history and Chevy's body broken.
I went up to this usually calm horse that was so agitated and crazed; her body twitching, "What’s going on with you Chevy? Have you been bitten or stung by something?" Dancing around me, wanting to be still for me but that thoroughbred blood is now running hot in her veins; totally preventing calmness. Briefly I thought, "Go get a halter and lead rope." Changed my mind ... pointless at this stage. "What’s right about this I’m not getting? How does it get any better than this Chevy and what else is possible?"
I had never seen her acting like this before. Scanning her body for lumps, bumps and swelling I found nothing. My eyes ran down her legs - all the time she is moving about me like a jack-in-a-box. I noticed pin-pricks of blood on all four fetlocks running down to her hoofs. Looking closer I could see the cause. Not lots but a few; perfectly camouflaged they blended into the blackness of her hair. I swore at them. "Bloody flies!" It must be that time of the year again. I wonder where the fly repellent is?
In the South West of Western Australia our summer fly population turn into day-time vampires. Blood-sucking little insects that play havoc on our animal’s bodies; especially horses, cows and the tips of dog ears. These flies bite for about two to three weeks in February through March each year. In previous years Chevy would bite at the flies in annoyance, stamp her feet and then seek me out to get something on her legs to protect them. Never has she acted like this. "What is this behaviour?"
I started towards the gate and then stopped. Turning back to look at Chevy I wondered ... A few months back when I attended the Access Foundation and Level 1 courses, I remembered Mary Lucille, my Access facilitator, mentioning that you can use these tools and body processes on animals.
"I wonder ... I wonder if there is an entity involved here? No harm in asking." I thought.
Turning and facing her body side-on I asked, "Is there an entity in, on or attached to this body?"
Immediately Chevy violently snatched her head around and bit her rib cage. Her body’s reaction to this question was instantaneous.
I asked, "Who are you?"
"What’s the value of holding onto this body?"
"Who were you before that?"
"Who were you before that?"
"Who were you before that?"
'Who will you be in the future?'
"Thank you and take your magnetic imprinting and go now."
The response from Chevy was truly amazing and spectacular. As I was saying, "Thank you and go now." she was licking her lips - a sign of contentment and receptivity. Her head was down, relaxed, body not quivering, standing comfortably on all four legs, quiet and still. The change in her was so dramatic, profound and instant that I think I stood with my mouth open catching vampire flies for a moment. I was totally awestruck. This was one of those 'Wow!' moments. Having no expectations, being present and following the energy seems to allow for a little magic to happen. I was filled with gratitude and all the, "Thank You's," under the sun came out of my mouth for everyone involved.
Thank you Gary (the founder of Access), thank you Mary Lucille, thank you Chevy, thank you me, thank you universe, and thank you for the experience. What else is possible? "How does it get even better than this?" I said with genuine conviction.
Out of my mouth came more questions, "What else is required here Chevy body? Do you require some hands on stuff’?" My body moved and my hands went to her shoulder and chest areas. I ran MTVSS. The energy didn’t run for long; maybe 10-minutes. "What else do you require Chevy body?" My hands moved again. I couldn’t remember the names of any other body processes so I just said, "Run whatever process Gary would run here." Something ran for another 10-minutes or so until the horse moved. I knew that was enough for today. And even though the flies were still there, Chevy no longer seemed to notice them.
Chevy followed me into the house-yard. I found the fly repellent and sprayed her legs. Often I let her into the house-yard to munch on my lawn and then she takes herself back into the paddock after about 15-minutes. She never stays in the house-yard for long. On this particular day she stood right at my back door for over 6 hours! She didn’t eat or drink or move about. I took the opportunity to get some great close-up photo’s of her. In the end, after getting totally sick of crawling under her belly to get to the bathroom or taking the long way around out the front door just to go for a wee break, I grabbed her mane and led her out the gate. I told Chevy, "Enough is enough. Go and be a horse and do what horses do." plus a few other choice words sprang from my mouth. The neighbour's horse had been calling her for hours; she didn’t care, the entity clearing had literally blissed her out.
I’m writing this 14-months later from notes I took of that day, as that day was so incredible and amazing plus these sort of experiences I remember with ease. The date was the 4th March 2008 and I was looking forward to my first Access Level Two and Three class with Gary and Dain in Perth at the end of the month. I have since bought 'Talk To The Animals, ' a book by Gary Douglas and am looking forward to my first Conscious Horse Conscious Rider workshop in Perth this year in August.
"What’s it going to take for me to be even more present, aware and conscious?"
With ease and joy and glory. Thank You.
